Showcased at electronica India 2026, the NAFEB43388 is a fully configurable industrial analog front end (AFE) designed to help industrial OEMs and sensor manufacturers build compact, protected and scalable precision sensing platforms with fewer external components. This AFE architecture helps reduce system complexity, lower costs and accelerate development across industrial applications.
The NAFEB43388 enables developers to use a common hardware architecture across next-generation programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), remote I/O systems, instrumentation and precision data acquisition systems. It supports a broad range of field signals, including voltage, current, resistance, and temperature inputs from resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), thermocouples, and thermistors. By combining multiple analog input functions in a single device, this solution helps developers reduce bill of materials (BOM) costs and complexity, printed circuit board (PCB) footprint and development effort while promoting platform reuse across different applications.
Industrial OEMs are looking for greater flexibility in how they design and scale precision sensing platforms without adding complexity to the overall system. By supporting multiple sensor types through a common hardware architecture, the NAFEB43388 helps reduce external components and development effort while enabling scalable platforms that can adapt to evolving industrial sensing requirements.
Meeting the Need for Flexible Industrial Sensing
Industrial OEMs and sensor manufacturers need to support increasingly diverse sensing requirements while balancing precision, system cost, development time and scalability. Traditional discrete implementations can require separate hardware configurations and multiple external components for different sensor types, adding design complexity while increasing time to market.
The NAFEB43388 addresses this challenge through a highly integrated and configurable architecture that brings together the key building blocks required for industrial analog inputs. The NAFEB43388 also integrates eight software-configurable analog inputs, a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a 13-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a programmable gain amplifier, a low-drift voltage reference and a precision sense resistor with smart e-fuse protection in a compact 6 mm × 6 mm package. This level of integration helps reduce external component counts, board space and design complexity while enabling hardware and software reuse across industrial sensing platforms.

Precision Sensing in Action
To illustrate the capabilities of the NAFEB43388, NXP demonstrated a precision weighing scale application that measured weight changes as small as one gram. The demonstration highlighted how a configurable sensing architecture can support high-precision force and weight measurements while simplifying system design.
From Precision Sensing to Connected Intelligence
Beyond sensor measurement, NXP's Remote I/O Platform (RIOP) shows how developers can bridge sensing, edge processing and industrial networking within a single architecture. Built on the i.MX RT1180 crossover MCU and NXP analog front end (NAFE) technology, the platform helps accelerate Industry 4.0 deployments while reducing system integration effort.
Precision analog measurement technologies enable accurate monitoring and control across next-generation industrial systems.
