The NXP® SCBGADAST is a Ball Grid Array (BGA) socket adapter set which allows any 217-pin 1.27 mm pitch PBGA surface mount device to be installed into a user's target system. It consists of an Enplas 217-pin Land Grid Array (LGA) socket, an Pin Grid Array (PGA) mini-grid socket adapter, an SCBGAMST PGA mini-grid socket, and an SCBGARBSA BGA base with receivers. The SCBGARBSA BGA base with receivers is reflowed in the user's target hardware in place of the 217 pin device. The Enplas 217-pin LGA socket is inserted into the PGA mini-grid socket adapter. The SCBGAMST PGA mini-grid socket adapter is then inserted into the SCBGARBSA BGA base with receivers on the user's target board. The socket assembly is then inserted into the SCBGAMST. The 217 pin 1.27 mm pitch PBGA device is then installed into the LGA socket. The SCBGADAST socket adapter set provides an effective tool for device evaluation and analysis. The SCBGADAST supports not only fully balled parts, but has also proven effective for partially de-balled or LGA devices, making it quite useful for failure analysis activities.
