201708035I : SC18IX Bridges Using /S8 Selection Types

Existing part numbers identified in DN85 will still be discontinued. This information note focus's on the release of several UART bridges in the SC18Ix family. A new customer selection type (e.g. SC18IS602BIPW/S8) for TSSOP16 in tape and reel will be released. The attached parts list will provide the impacted part types. The devices are identical except for the new /S8 part number which is used to track customer migration. All existing and potentially new customers can purchase the /S8 part numbers which will be visible on the NXP website. NXP plans to supply the devices for a minimum of 7 years with an expected discontinuation in the 2024-2025 timeframe but in the meantime Failure Analysis for /S8 devices will consist of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and electrical overstress verification along with package and wire bond validation only. Detailed device failure analysis will not be available. Reintroduction of these previously discontinued devices will occur in production facilities that align with current or previously qualified manufacturing locations. Existing data sheet will be updated to add the /S8 part numbers.
