About the product

The S32V2xx Development Package is an optional software package that can be installed on S32 Design Studio to support programming of NXP's S32V2xx family of visual processors. The development package cannot be run as a standalone application, nor can it be integrated with third-party software products.

S32 Design Studio with the installed S32V2xx Development Package features the following options:
  • The project creation wizards can generate application projects and library projects for S32V2xx.
  • New project examples for S32V2xx are available. The project examples include custom code and are ready for compilation and debugging.
  • Applications for S32V2xx can be debugged. The following debugging options are supported:
    • Debugging on the target: This option is supported for projects designed for a bare-metal target. The evaluation board with the target MCU can be connected to the computer with a P&E probe, with a Lauterbach probe, or with NXP's S32 Debug Probe.
    • Debugging on a remote Linux: This option is available for projects created for a Linux target.
  • Application projects can optionally define the image vector table (IVT) and the pins, clocks, peripherals and DCD configurations using the S32 Configuration tool.
Note: To compile projects for S32V2xx, S32 Design Studio uses the standard GCC tools and does not depend on the resources of the S32V2xx Development Package.

Product extensions

The Vision Extension Package for S32V2xx can be additionally installed on S32 Design Studio to provide the tools for visual programming of the APEX2 and ISP accelerators of the S32V2xx visual processor. Solutions for S32V2xx can be extended with code generated from visual models and executed on the APEX2 and ISP on-chip processor modules.

Installation and update

The S32V2xx Development Package should be installed, updated, and uninstalled using the S32DS Extension and Updates tool of S32 Design Studio. The use of the standard Eclipse IDE tools is not recommended.

Removal of the S32V2xx Development Package does not affect the earlier created projects for S32V2xx. The user can open, edit, and build these projects. Debugging applications for S32V2xx is not supported after the S32V2xx Development Package has been uninstalled.

The extension package described above is installed after the S32V2xx Development Package. Removal of the development package requires that its extension is uninstalled first.

The S32 Design Studio User Guide describes in detail how to install, update, and uninstall software packages on S32 Design Studio.
