Specifies the absolute line number (of the current source file) for which the assembler generates subsequent code or data.

Line number of the file; the file's first line is number 1.
This directive is appropriate if you must explicitly provide a line number to the assembler as debugging information. But this directive turns off automatic generation of debugging information (which the assembler does if you enable the debugger).
