Windows 7/Vista offer several networking services, most of them using DNS to provide a naming service. If your network uses a Windows DNS or WINS server, you can access the Ethernet TAP probe by its host name by one of two methods:
You can also make the Ethernet TAP probe available to selected local workstations by updating the hosts file on each workstation that needs access to the Ethernet TAP probe.
Windows hosts files are located in the %system_root%\system32
\ drivers\etc\ directory.
128.9.230.61 elvis # Ethernet TAP 1 128.9.230.62 hayduke # Ethernet TAP 2
After doing the above steps, you can update the Windows host file.
