M5307C3 Errata

Description: Some early shipments of the M5307C3 evaluation board contain mislabeled pin numbers on jumper JP1. This jumper controls the highest address line to the AMD29LV004 flash devices. Thus, the default jumper location (across pins 2 and 3), is incorrectly pulling the most significant address line (A18) high. Therefore, the resident debugger, dBUG, is programmed into the upper half of the flash devices, with the lower half inaccessible. Attempting to issue the 'upuser' command to copy 4 or more sectors of flash will overwrite dBUG. Later shipments of this board have been modified with a sticker correctly labeling the jumper pins.

Workaround: For the M5307C3 boards that have not been modified to correctly label the pins of JP1, the following will need to be done to correctly place dBUG in the lower flash address and allow full access to the user portion of the flash devices:

  1. Re-label the pins of JP1 so that the pins are labeled (left to right) 3 2 1 instead of 1 2 3.
  2. Move the jumper to the correct default location (across the pins now labeled 2 and 3).
  3. Apply power to the board and use a flash programmer* to reprogram dBUG into the appropriate location using the dBUG s-record provided here.

* The trial versions of SDS SingleStep and EST visionCLICK included in the M5307C3 kit offer flash programming capabilities.
